“Good Faith Estimate:” Sliding Flat Fee (2022-07)

As of July 31, 2022, IHB has instituted Sliding Flat Fees to provide “Good Faith Estimates” on how much your healthcare services will cost before you get the bill for uninsured patients. The office visit fee is a single fee of $10, $20, $40, $60 or $80, based on household size and income. There is a 25% discount for paying at the time of visit.

The “No Surprises Act” (NSA) for group health plans (2022-08)

The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (CAA) created the “No Surprises Act” or NSA which is intended to protect participants, beneficiaries, and enrollees in group health plans (and group and individual health insurance coverage) from “surprise” balance billing when they receive specified emergency care (generally from out-of-network providers or facilities).
